Russ is a six-time UCWDC World Champion in both line and partner dance, an award-winning choreographer, and an active West Coast Swing competitor with the World Swing Dance Council. His dance journey began with childhood lessons from his grandmother and took off after a spontaneous visit to a country bar in Florida—eventually leading him to the competitive floor in 2016. Today, Russ is co-owner of Country Remix SD, the largest country dance social in Southern California, and teaches both locally in San Diego and at events across the country. His passion for dance and ability to connect with students of all levels make his classes both fun and inspiring. Beyond teaching, Russ serves as Competition Coordinator for KickStart Country, where he’s managed over 150 events and supported more than 6,000 dancers across major festivals like Nashville Dance Fest, DanceXL, and the Canadian Swing Championships. Known for his organization and energy, Russ helps create top-tier competition environments where dancers can truly shine.
